Super Bowl, Curieuse-Style

A few weeks ago, we decided to host a Super Bowl party in our new digs.  Why host? For two reasons.  One, most of our friends haven't seen the place yet since we moved in right before the Holidays, and we wanted to have everyone over to have a look-see.  Two, the last Super Bowl party I went to was like a fraternity bash - no longer fun after university, now that we can afford better food and alcohol and are much less tolerant of sticky floors. {Perhaps the frats at your university threw nice parties, but at mine you practically needed a hazmat suit to enter one of those Dens of Iniquity.} This year, there will be no burned hot dogs, no warm cans of Miller Lite, and no lightweights getting sick in the backyard. Mark my words.

The theme for our party is "Football, Fried Chicken & Champagne." Here's a shot of our Paperless Post invitations:

Now, I'm not about to subject our guests to a New England girl's attempt to fry chicken {such things don't come naturally to Yankees}, so we're leaving things to the professionals and having the fest catered by Honey's Kettle over in Culver City.  I can handle the champagne purchasing, though - THAT comes quite naturally.

We're expecting about 20 guests, so Saturday will be a mad dash to purchase more chairs, more beverages, and more snacks. When I send out invitations I always worry that no one will come - does anyone else have the same fear?  It's right up there with dreams about being back in college and realizing you have to take an exam in a class you thought you had dropped.  I really hate those.

Do you have Super Bowl plans?  Who are you cheering for?  I guess we're cheering for San Francisco since we're Californians {for now}, but truthfully I just hope it's a good, evenly-matched game.  With some killer commercials, of course!

Fun! Good to get together with friends before your move, and who doesn't like to mix football and champagne!

I experience the very same anxiety- actually both the sending out the invitations/ fearing no one will come and the final in a class you thought you dropped dream!
I love the party theme! I'm of the belief that champagne pairs well with everything!
