Palm Springs Recap!

What a weekend! We were in Palm Springs for only about a day and a half, but that was all I needed to recharge and relax!

If you can believe it, we had to drive through SNOW to get to Palm Springs, and all the surrounding mountains had a pretty good dusting.  I won't say it was necessarily hot, but the weather was pleasant and sunny - fine by me.

The Parker had its hiccups, but the grounds were fantastic.

My Sister-in-law flew in from NYC {on one of the last flights out on Friday morning} to join us, and we had a great time catching up!  Each morning we had breakfast at the restaurant in the Parker called Norma's. Ever been to a 5-star diner? Try it. Jonathan Adler goods were everywhere, including some cemented to the walls!

One of the hiccups at the Parker was that we were told we could book spa appointments same-day, but they were completely booked.  I was pretty devastated for a minute.  Then I called the spa at the Viceroy - they fit us all in and perked me up considerably.

The Viceroy is smaller than the Parker, but equally stylish.  And, importantly, their spa is quite nice.

After spa time, we wandered around downtown Palm Springs and said hello to {giant} Marilyn...

... and Trina.  I didn't make any new purchases since I stocked up on Trina Turk goods during Gilt's sale last week, but I did admire the crazy mid-century-inspired fun.  Since moving to California this style has grown on me a bit - I wonder whether it translates well in Texas.

Saturday evening we embraced our American roots and settled into a steak house for surf and turf {and wine, dessert, and more wine}, and capped it off with cocktails near the fire back at the hotel.

After some investigating on Twitter, I hear that the Barton Creek and Lake Travis resorts {near Austin} have great spas. I plan on investigating those ASAP.  There is something so fun about a resort town, though.  Palm Springs is one of my favorite places in California!

Happy Monday!

Oh lovely! Diners are my favourite places to eat, though I'm a counter girl at heart.
